A 177-hp, 2.4L, i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine is available on the LX, LX-P and SE, while the EX and EX-L models feature a higher-revving, more powerful 190-hp 2.4L engine. Those craving more power and acceleration will be interested in the EX V-6 and EX-L V-6 models, which sport a 271-hp, 3.5L, 24-Valve, SOHC i-VTEC® V-6 engine that still delivers an EPA-estimated 30 MPG hwy. Truly the best of both worlds.
The LX and EX trims come standard with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the remaining trim levels come standard with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is also an available option on the LX and EX trims. Accord owners opting for the 4-cylinder engine will enjoy an EPA-estimated 23 city/34 hwy MPG; those with V-6 engines can expect to get an EPA-estimated 20 city/30 hwy MPG [2]. |

Standard Options and Features
Features such as power looks, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering column, floor mats, rear window defroster and illuminated steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls and a USB audio interface come standard. Stepping up to the LX-Premium adds 16" alloy wheels, a security system and an 8-way power adjustable driver's seat. Those wanting a more sumptuous interior should look to the SE, which adds leather-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Other SE standard features include heated front seats, and adds power lumbar support to the driver's seat and a "Special Edition" Badge.
The EX throws several more attractive features into the mix, such as a one-touch power moonroof, 17" alloy wheels, multi-reflector halogen headlights, heated power side mirrors, rear HVAC vents and an upgraded audio system with 6-disc in-dash CD player. Conversely, the EX V-6, in addition to the more powerful engine, adds a few exterior touches like fog lights, chrome door handles and dual exhaust to distinguish itself from its 4-cylinder brethren.
A 270-Watt AM/FM/XM/6-Disc premium audio system comes standard on the EX-L model. Enjoy the ability to make and receive phone calls through the audio system with the added Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and steering wheel-mounted phone controls. Leather-trimmed seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and a front passenger's seat with 4-way power adjustment round out the upgraded features on the EX-L model. The EX-L V-6 model gets a leather-trimmed interior and a HomeLink remote system.
A Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with voice recognition, rearview camera and steering-wheel navigation system controls can also be added to all EX-based trims. |

Safety
The Accord Sedan earned a 5-star safety rating in each of NHTSA's combined safety rating categories[1]. And that is quite an achievement, especially since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has established new, more stringent NCAP tests. Features like Vehicle Stability Assist, Anti-Lock Brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System are designed to help avoid accidents. However, in the event an accident is unavoidable, the front, front-side, side-curtain airbags and active head restraints will help reduce the likelihood of injuries. |
